Read. Notice. Review.

Make learning Quran words part of your daily reading

Read a passage, then try a short vocabulary game using words from those verses. Yawm brings word meanings, audio, varied questions, and spaced repetition into the same routine as your Quran reading. Practice can be a few minutes of curiosity rather than a separate long study session. Quiz meanings currently use English.

Explore words in their passage

Show word-by-word meanings and transliteration in the reader, or tap a word when you need help. Word details include audio, root information, and example occurrences so you can investigate the word without losing your place.

Read the full verse translation alongside word meanings. A gloss helps with a word; the complete translation helps you follow how the sentence is expressed.

Match, listen, recall, and review

After a reading session, choose Vocabulary to practice words connected to the verses you read. Match Arabic words to meanings, answer multiple-choice and audio questions, and try recall practice. Streak bonuses and visible learning progress make each short round feel like an activity you can finish.

Spaced repetition brings words back for review. You can mark words you already know, see a learning level for each word, and return to activities from recent reading sessions in Journey. Use that feedback to choose what to revisit rather than measuring learning only by how many quizzes you complete.

Try recalling a meaning before checking it. Then reread the verse and see whether you recognize the word within the passage. Keep the practice short enough that you still want to return tomorrow.

Know the language and connection requirements

  • Vocabulary quiz meanings currently use English.
  • The app interface language and reader translation settings are separate from quiz content.
  • Starting a vocabulary quiz and saving quiz results require an internet connection.
  • Reading with downloaded translations can be prepared separately for offline sessions.

One part of a broader Arabic learning journey

Yawm’s vocabulary activities support word recognition and review. They do not promise complete Quran comprehension or replace grammar study, full translations, tafsir, or a teacher. A root or a short English meaning alone does not establish the meaning of every form in every context.

Start with a small passage and a few words you want to revisit. For a structured Arabic course, the app’s acknowledgements include Quran Coach, whose learning resources have helped shape the vocabulary experience.

Start with your next reading session
